Last updated 27 October 2026. POSTED has no accounts. There is no email address, no password and no sign-in, so there is nothing here that identifies you by name.
Your coordinates are rounded to about a 150-metre grid and randomly nudged on your phone before they leave it. The server never receives your exact position, which means there is no exact position for us to lose, sell, or be compelled to hand over. We do not have it.
On Android the app declares only the approximate location permission. That is not a setting or a promise — it means the operating system will not give the app a precise fix even if a future version of the code asked for one.
The map in the app shows venues, never scans. A pin is a room. It is not a poster, it is not a person, and there is no clustered, blurred or heat-mapped version of where people walked anywhere in the product.
Aggregate counts of where posters are found — by stretch of street, or on that same 150-metre grid — may be shared with the venues and promoters whose posters they are (see How POSTED is paid for). They are only ever shared where at least five separate scans exist, so a count can never describe one person's walk.
POSTED counts what happens to each event: how many times it was scanned, opened, saved, added to a calendar, shared, and opened from a shared link, and how many people marked it Going or Interested. These are counts about events. They are not a history of what you did.
POSTED is free, and the things it does for you will stay free. It is paid for by the people who put up the posters: venues, promoters and event organizers. They may pay for aggregate statistics about their own events and about event-going in the city — how often their posters are scanned and where, how many people saved or shared an event, which kinds of events and which venues draw the most interest. POSTED may also show clearly labelled sponsored placements in the feed.
What they get is counts. They never get your device identifier, your location, your saved events, or anything about you as a person, and counts smaller than five are never shared.
Your saved events are yours alone. There is no public list of what you have saved, no list of who is going, no follower list and no way for another user to see what you scanned. Going and Interested show a number, never names. This is not a setting you have to find. There is no feature in the product that could reveal it.
Phone numbers read off a flyer are stored so the app can offer a "call" button. They are never displayed as selectable text, so the flyers tab cannot be scraped into a contact list.
When you leave "Add to feed" on, the poster you photographed appears in the neighborhood feed, along with how many different people have photographed that same poster. That count measures the poster. It never names or counts the people. You can turn the toggle off before any individual scan, and change the default in Settings.
In the app: Settings → Delete my data. That erases everything stored on your device and asks the server to forget your device identifier and everything attached to it.
You can also ask us directly at support@posted.events. Posters that other people have also photographed stay in the feed as their contribution — your scan and your identifier are removed from them.
Every scan is checked for hateful, sexual, violent or harassing content before it can reach the feed. Anyone can report a posting from the app, and anyone can block another contributor so their scans never appear for you again. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours.
POSTED is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the app will say so before the change takes effect rather than quietly updating this page.
